An APRA-regulated financial services group is appointing an AI Engineering Manager to lead the engineers who take its AI products from working prototype to governed production. You run a team of AI and platform engineers, own delivery quality and engineering standards for LLM and agent workloads, and build to the reference architectures set by the group's AI architecture function.
This is a hands-on management seat. You still review the design, still read the code, and you are the person who knows why a release is safe to ship in a regulated environment.
What you will do
- Lead and grow a team of AI engineers building GenAI and agentic products on Azure (Azure OpenAI, AI Foundry, Databricks)
- Own engineering standards for LLM and agent workloads: evaluation, guardrails, observability, cost and release discipline
- Deliver against the group's AI reference architectures and partner with architecture, risk and platform teams
- Run the delivery rhythm: planning, prioritisation, code review, incident response
- Hire, coach and set the bar for a team that ships to production, not to demo
What you bring
- You have managed an engineering team that shipped AI or ML systems to production, and you can name them
- Hands-on depth in Python or TypeScript, LLM APIs, RAG and at least one agent framework, recent enough to review pull requests with authority
- Azure and Databricks experience; regulated financial services is an advantage, not a gate
- You can explain an engineering decision to a risk partner and to an engineer in the same meeting
- Sydney, hybrid. Full Australian work rights.
Why Galileo Search

Package is set at manager level and confirmed on application. To apply, send your CV and one paragraph on an AI system your team shipped and what you changed to get it there.
