An APRA-regulated financial services group is appointing a Director to turn AI governance, risk and policy into operational controls that engineers can build to and auditors can test. You build the enterprise AI control plane: policy enforcement and guardrails, observability and telemetry for model performance and risk indicators, evaluation and assurance platforms, oversight infrastructure for third and fourth party AI, and the reusable control patterns and engineering standards behind them. You partner with Risk, Compliance, Legal and Data Science and you keep a hands-on engineering mindset.
What you bring
- You have engineered AI controls in production: guardrails, evaluation pipelines, model monitoring, telemetry, or an AI control plane. Not a policy document, a system.
- Model risk and validation in a regulated environment: CPS 230 and CPS 234 fluency, or equivalent, is an advantage.
- Third and fourth party AI oversight: how you know what a vendor's model is doing inside your estate.
- Platform engineering depth on Azure or AWS with Databricks.
- You can explain a control to an auditor and to an engineer in the same meeting. Sydney, hybrid. Full Australian work rights.
