Join a product team shipping real AI features to real users. You will build production LLM and GenAI systems, not slideware: retrieval pipelines, agents, evaluation harnesses, and the plumbing that makes them reliable at scale.
The team measures itself on shipped, adopted features rather than model demos. You will sit close to product, take fuzzy ideas, and turn them into AI features with owners, metrics and error budgets. If your best work so far has been prototypes that never made it past the demo, this is the role where that changes.
What you will do
- Build and ship production features on LLMs, RAG and agent frameworks
- Own evaluation, guardrails, latency and cost for AI features running in production
- Integrate models into the product through clean APIs and solid data pipelines
- Work close to product to turn fuzzy ideas into shipped, measurable features
- Raise the engineering bar for how the team builds, tests and monitors AI systems
What you bring
- Strong software engineering fundamentals in Python and/or TypeScript
- Hands-on experience with LLM APIs, vector stores, RAG, and at least one agent framework
- A ship, measure and iterate mindset rather than a chase for the perfect model
- Bonus: MLOps, fine-tuning or eval-framework experience
Why this role
High-ownership engineering on the part of the product that actually moves the business. AI Engineer is the single most in-demand AI title in the Australian market right now, and this seat gives you production scope most teams cannot offer: you own the feature from prompt to pipeline to dashboard.
The package is $150,000 to $190,000 base plus superannuation, Sydney based with hybrid working. Galileo Search runs Australia's specialist AI talent marketplace. Apply in confidence, or reach out for a private conversation.
